The start of September indicates the unofficial start of the Fall season. According to the experts, Fall doesn’t officially begin this year until September 22nd. The kids are back in school but that doesn’t stop our weekend fun. We’re still on the hunt to find some new and fun activities to experience. Fall is the perfect time to enjoy outdoor activities in St. Louis without succumbing to the heat and humidity of the midwest. The leaves begin changing colors making for a beautiful background as we explore our city. Here’s a list of activities happening in the local St. Louis area in September. Universoul Circus visits downtown St. Louis August 31st through September 5th. The circus will be located on the parking lot near the Dome. Ticket prices start as low as $16.
Twilight Tuesdays – Twilight Tuesdays returns this month to the Missouri History Museum. The free outdoor concert is held every Tuesday at 6pm on the lawn outside of the museum. Bring your blanket or a chair and enjoy the show.
Apple Fest at Eckert’s Farm – This month kicks off apple picking season at all three Eckert’s locations. Eckert’s is celebrating with Apple Fest. The festival includes apple treats, live music, wagon rides and more. This event will take place every weekend in September beginning at 10am.
Food Truck Friday – Food Truck Friday is held once a month from May through October. Food Truck Friday will be held at Tower Grove Park on September 9th from 4pm to 7:30pm. Get there early!
Downtown Restaurant Week – Downtown restaurant week will be held September 19th through September 25th. Downtown restaurants extend a special invitation offering a three-course meal for $25 per person. This is the perfect opportunity to try a new restaurant without paying full price.
Great Forest Park Balloon Race – On September 17th, Forest Park will host the oldest and most well-attended FREE hot-air balloon event in the world. The event begins on Friday night, September 16 with a Balloon Glow. The Balloon Glow is well attended and you will want to arrive early. The race on Saturday seems to be a little less crowded. This event provides the perfect opportunity for a picnic. Pack up the kiddos and head down to the balloon race.
Beyonce – Beyonce brings her Formation World Tour to St. Louis on Saturday, September 10th. Get your tickets before they sell out.
Feast in the Park – This food truck event will be held on September 8th at Faust Park in Chesterfield. Food trucks and musicians will be available from 5pm to 8pm.
Disney on Ice: Worlds of Enchantment – Chafeitz Arena will host Disney on Ice from September 23rd to September 25th. Prices start at $15 per ticket.
St. Charles Oktoberfest – St. Charles hosts its annual fest September 23rd through September 25th. This event is for visitors of all ages. Admission is FREE. See website for additional details.
Big Muddy Blues Festival – The Big Muddy Blues Festival takes place Labor Day Weekend. This festival is known as one of the country’s best blues music festivals. The festival features nearly three dozen groups – national, regional, and local – on five stages. Check out their website for more details.
LouFest Music Festival – LouFest is held September 10th and 11th at Forest Park. This annual 2 day event features local, regional and national acts on three stages throughout the weekend. The festival will include a children’s stage and village filled with music, magic, and kid-friendly food. See website for admission prices.
Gavin Degraw and Andy Grammer – This concert will be held at the Peabody Opera House on Tuesday, September 27th at 7:30pm.
Q in The Lou – Q in The Lou will be held September 23 – September 25 at Soldiers’ Memorial. Top BBQ chefs from around the country pack up their grills and smokers and bring a taste of their hometown to one of the most celebrated barbecue cities in the world; St. Louis, Missouri. Featuring nine of America’s legendary pitmasters, Q in the Lou is a celebration of great barbecue, with cooking tutorials, a BBQ innovations expo, amateur cooking contests, live local music, and of course, the best barbecue in America. Admission to this event is free.
