February – A Lovely Month for Fun

We’ve made it through the first month of the year.  If you haven’t realized it by now, time waits for no one and enjoying life should be top priority.  There are a few activities in addition to our usual fun happening in February.  Challenge yourself to get out and love more this month and see how much more rewarding life will be.  Below you can find something worthwhile to enjoy with family and friends.  Click on the title for dates and more information.

Owls Prowls at World Bird Sanctuary – Come over to the dark side and meet those amazing birds that exist by moonlight. Owl Prowls offer an exciting opportunity to learn more about the amazing life of owls. Spend an evening with a WBS naturalist who will introduce you to live owls and their unique calls. Then, take an easy night hike through our grounds to try to call in a wild owl!

Orchid Show at the Botanical Garden – The annual Orchid Show offers visitors a once-a-year opportunity to see a rotating display of hundreds of orchids from the Garden’s expansive permanent living collection amid a tropical oasis inside the Orthwein Floral Display Hall. The Orchid Show theme changes annually.

Soulard Mardi Gras – New Orleans isn’t in the cards for you, but luckily St. Louis’ oldest neighborhood is stepping up to the challenge to deliver a quality Mardi Gras experience. Deep into the winter, you and the family will have gobs of fun participating in an eclectic mix of activities.

Disney Live – Open the door to reveal mesmerizing worlds of unforgettable Disney moments and grand illusions with Disney Live! Mickey and Minnie’s Doorway to Magic. Join Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and the comical duo of Donald and Goofy as 25 of your favorite Disney characters surprise and captivate at every turn of the knob.

Working Women Survival Show – The Ultimate Girls Day Out is gearing up for more food, fashion, fitness, and fun.

St. Louis RV Vacation and Travel Show – The St. Louis RV Vacation & Travel Show is February 2-5, 2017.  It is one of the largest, public, recreational vehicle consumer shows in the country, consuming over 260,000 square feet of the America’s Center in downtown St. Louis. Attendees will see 300 RV’s highlighting the latest in state-of-the-art RV technology, streamline designs, parts and accessories as well as travel destination including campgrounds and resorts.

Eagle Watching – Hundreds of bald eagles spend their winter along the banks of the Mississippi River in Alton and Grafton.  January is a great time to go eagle watching. The Alton Visitors Center has events all month long including Eagle Meet and Greets on Saturdays in January. Then, take one of the guided tours or drive yourself along the Great River Road for some prime eagle spotting.

Chocolate Wine Trail – The Chocolate Wine Trail has become a romantic  Valentine’s tradition for many couples, who spend the third weekend of February sampling luscious chocolate and wine pairings at seven stops along the Hermann Wine Trail.

Centennial Beer Festival – The Centennial Beer festival is held in the Lafayette Square neighborhood of St. Louis in a restored malt house  built in 1876 for the Schnaider Brewery.   There are multiple historical rooms to explore while you taste the 80+ breweries and more than 200 beers.
