Montelle Winery Sunset Dinner

The Montelle Winery Sunset Dinner was absolutely incredible.  Don planned this event as one of my Mother’s Day gifts.  Our reservations were for the Saturday evening before Mother’s Day.  I was a bit hesitant because I figured there would be a large crowd because it was Mother’s Day weekend.  I didn’t want to be stacked on top of others and having them in our personal conversation.  Don and I typically take a half day at work so we can visit Montelle when no one is really there.  Needless to say we have never experienced a crowd there.

Much to our surprise, when we arrived Saturday evening around 6:00pm, the crowd was thinning out and the band was packing up to leave.  It wasn’t crowded at all.  We walked in and grabbed two bottles of wine that we are fairly familiar with.  We had gotten there right as they were setting up for the sunset dinner and were lucky to be given a nice aluminum wine bucket to chill our wine.  You usually have to purchase a paper bucket. We weren’t able to sit right away because the staff was still preparing the area.  A gentleman that worked there walked by and told us he would take care of us.  We didn’t quite know what he was talking about but we soon realized a complimentary wine tasting was included with our reservations.  He introduced us to a few new wines and we ended up swapping out our usuals.  It was nice to try something different especially since we were having a different experience that day.

We located a table outside where we began to drink our wine (wine is not included in the $45 per person sunset dinner).  There was another band there to cover the evening shift.  It wasn’t long before they began allowing guest to sit in the designated area.  We decided we would head over as well because Don really wanted to drink his wine out of a glass.  He’s a little boujee at times.  As we were escorted to our table the set up was beautiful.  The tables were covered in white linens and it was completely set up for the dinner.  There was a menu card with our last name on it detailing what we would have that evening.  The scenery was beautiful as usual.  They began serving not long after we were seated at our table.  They started with a salad that wasn’t bad at all.  I have to admit I was a little hesitant about the food and the possible lack of seasoning. We selected short ribs, mashed potatoes, and asparagus.  They really outdid themselves.  The food was delicious and so was the dessert.  It was a wonderful experience as we enjoyed our meal while watching the sun set.  We sat there for a couple hours admiring the views and talking about how great of an experience it was.  The Montelle Winery sunset dinner is highly recommended.  We took a lot of pictures but honestly it was nothing like seeing it with your own eyes.  If you live in the St. Louis area, please do yourself a favor and go.  You won’t regret it.

Sorry we bit into the dessert before I could take a picture.

Again, these pictures do not tell the story.  You really have to see it for yourself.
