The Most Wonderful Time of Year

If you know our family, you know it is hands down our most favorite time of year.  We love decorating our home, seeing Christmas light displays, and spending time together.  Christmas movies and music make for a perfect backdrop to any of the activities we do around our home this time of year.  This blog post may seem a bit premature but the holiday activities begin this weekend.  St. Louis has many holiday themed activities you can enjoy with friends and family.  We’ve done many of these activities in the past and look forward to continuing some of these traditions while also creating new ones.  Here’s a list of holiday themed activities you can enjoy this season.

Festival of LightsThe 2017 Ameren Missouri Festival of Lights will return to Kiener Plaza! The Festival of Lights will take place Saturday, November 18th and will include a host of live entertainment, lighting of the Salvation Army Tree of Lights, and a festive fireworks finale.

Thanksgiving Day ParadeCelebrating its 32nd year, the 2017 Ameren Thanksgiving Day Parade will step off at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, November 23 from 7th Street and Market Street in Downtown St. Louis.  We always watch this event from home while preparing our Thanksgiving dinner.  If you aren’t too busy and can withstand the cold, I recommend attending and using this event to kick off your holiday season.

Wild Lights Saint Louis ZooStroll through the Saint Louis Zoo’s enchanting holiday wonderland and enjoy over half a million twinkling lights and festive fun for the whole family!

Union StationThis event runs November 24 – December 30.  The highlight of the Union Station activities is the Polar Express Train Ride.  I’ve always wanted to do this but now my husband says our kids are too old.  What!!!!  You’re never too old for a train ride to the North Pole.

Brewery Lights at Anheuser BuschFor the 29th year in a row, the Anheuser-Busch St. Louis Brewery will be celebrating the season with our famous outdoor holiday lights display featuring a free walking tour, beer sampling, ice rink, s’mores station, and more.  Please plan ahead with this one.  I still have not been able to attend this event because it is always so crowded.

Santa’s Magical KingdomThis is another drive through light display.  I heard last year that this one wasn’t as nice as Tilles Park.  However, according to their website, Santa’s Magical Kingdom is bigger and better than ever.   The addition of a NEW 1/2 mile section plus a new 250′ tunnel of lights featuring snowflakes in motion has been added making Santa’s Magical Kingdom the only light display in the nation to offer THREE TUNNELS OF LIGHTS!
